DATE: Sat Oct 23rd
LOCATION: Thurston Loop (Vedder Mtn again if snowed in)
TIME: 8am at Chilliwack Airport cafe for breakfast for the early risers. There's time to fuel up anywhere along Vedder Road. This time we won't meet in the paved parking areas, instead continue on another km or so to the large gravel pull off area on the right at 10am. It's a little ways before On-The-Way Store on Chilliwack Lake Road. Far more room there now and easier to get on the road as a group.
LUNCH: Traditionally we'll be stopping for hotdogs/smokies and will require volunteers for this.
CAMPING: We have never camped as a group on this run, but the end of the run has nearby Foley Lake, please post your interest in overnighting on this one. We usually air up after dark so keep this in mind if you do plan to camp. Patti & I camped there in 2020 and it was completely deserted at this time of year.

Stock & family friendly loop around Thurston. Long range weather forecast shows mid October as considerably less precip than normal so perhaps it will be clear of snow. While this is a stock and family friendly run, please come prepared for extreme cold and snow. Weather changes can occur without warning and the elevation gain is significant.

If this run does happen, can you guys post below if you plan to camp at Foley on Saturday night? I'm a yes.

Hoping to come say hi but family is under the weather so wait & see how that played out.

I'm planning to attend, breakfast even! Kristin is probably working - store inventory time 😡 - but our daughters are keen in the 2nd 60, depending on which loop we do. Look forward to seeing y'all!

I'm into a campout, with the caveat being poor conditions on the trail as I would be towing my M101 if I camp out. I do not want a tag-a-long on the trail if it's sketch. So it will be a last couple day decision for me. As Norm mentioned in the meeting thread we are lifting our hands to provide the cooking again. I am away likely till mid week. Was buying the hotdogs, buns, water and condiments discussed at the meeting?

Is this thread going to be the headcount area or has someone who is active and current on FB posted it and getting a headcount there? Does the club buy for non-members via FB, or will there be a charge per HD for anyone who is not paid up?

I have rented a side by side to make it out for this run we will not be staying overnight, I will be unloading at far end and meeting you at the start of gravel, Sarah really wanted to make it out so the 3 of us are gonna come out. I will have my radio on 146.46 unless there is a better channel now. I plan to be unloaded and headed to where we usually air down for 10 do I should beat you there

Greg, if you can buy food for the BBQ, that would be great. If I'm not working, I will attend for the run, but likely not overnight.

We won't charge for drop-in's, this is a club sponsored event. Send me the receipts and I'll e-transfer you.

I checked with the Chilliwack Airport Coffee shop and we do not require a
covid passport to have breakfast there. My Grandson, Shikai, and I will be
there for breakfast...

Count me in, I will aim to meet for breakfast.

I'll be picking up the stuff on Friday. We will have two stoves cooking. If anyone has any dietary concerns the stoves are open for you to use of course. Will have bottled water as well. Though from the looks of it all one will need to do is stand outside and tilt head to the sky. Speaking of, if anyone has a 10x10 easyup shelter and room in their truck, might be an idea to bring. And maybe a few sticks of wood. If we all bring a little dry firewood we can build a fire if inclined.

I will bring a shelter. And a brolly also 🌧🐈🐈🐈🐕🐕🐕!

If everyone throws a few pieces of firewood in their truck, we'll have a
big warm fire. Gary really knew how to build a great fire. Here he is two years ago at Mudageddon...

Easy peasy with a trailer, bringing mine. The only time it would be sketchy is on the way up/down with too much snow/ice, and ice hasn't formed on the road yet, and not seeing any chance of snow at our elevation Mt Cheam Weather Forecast (2134m) - https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Mt-Cheam/forecasts/2134

PS - EXPECT RAIN ON SATURDAY

To those camping overnight at Foley Lake: expect rain on Saturday tapering to light showers Sunday. Ceiling is high so we may get lucky. We usually get down the mountain after dark, so if we don't linger too long at the top we may have a bit of daylight left to set up camp.
