Hey Guys,

I wanted to open up a new idea to everyone. I wanted to host at my home "garage days" to invite people to come over and wrench on their trucks. I think it would be great to have people come over, shoot the s***, eat pizza, drink beer and get some stuff done on their vehicles. The point of this is to get together and share knowledge, tools, etc. and help people complete projects. That does not mean that anyone is going to do the work for you, but assist with knowledge etc. on how to get it done while working on their own vehicles.

I will update this thread with days that I plan to be out in the shop and we can go from there.

Let me know what people think about the idea and if they are open to coming over. I am in Carlsbad, north county san diego.

I can hear Metallica already... Sounds like a great idea. We have done a few of these at Phulcrum's place, always fun and we tend to get a lot done.

I always wish that I had the space, the tools, and most importantly the knowledge to host such an event. If I hosted such an event my thought would be to call out a specific task, let’s say front brakes or changing the coolant, and that way all that came over would have the same task and end goal. We would all then be knowledgeable of that one specific task. Then again it sounds like you’ve done this before and have more knowledge of how to make this work. This is a great way to bring the community together and get people to learn to wrench on their trucks. I’m definitely interested if the space is available.

Thanks Noah.

not really what I was thinking, I don't want it to turn into a tutorial day for everyone, that gets old, basically what I am saying is that people just come over with whatever projects they are working on their trucks and we help each other out. One guy might be replacing shocks, one installing a stereo, one swapping out spark plugs, whatever. Obviously major stuff like tranny work etc is out but lots of other stuff everyone can do. Again, not so people can work on your car for you but share knowledge, how to, etc to get it done and hang out.

sounds like Tim (@Phulcrum ) is doing this already at his place, which I did not realize, so open to going over to his place as well and continuing this thought there.

I hear ya Noah.

I’ve met a few SD folks. It seems like you guys are a bit more active as a group on and off the trails. It would be great to meet more of you guys in the garage too.

I'm always down to help folks wrench on stuff, I've graduated from shadetree to canopy mechanic.

Heck yeah you have!

Great idea!! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. I'm not much of a mech but I'm pretty good at drinking beer and handing people the right tools.

I have a HAM to install which is a nice mostly canned activity for a wrench day.... should one occur.

I need to get the E locker fixed in the hundy, not sure why it's not working.
