Hey folks... wanted to jump in with some 250-specific material here, some of this is sprinkled elsewhere but I think it's a little cleaner to have a dedicated thread here. The super fast intro is I've been on 'mud since it started in 2003, been making products under the Gamiviti brand since 2009, and have a pretty decent reputation here for quality and service which I'm extremely proud of, and grateful for. But let's get to you, and your new 250 Land Cruiser or GX550...
Will start with our towers and cross bar systems... nothing too crazy, other than it provides folks with a fairly inexpensive way to upgrade from a factory rack, or no rack, into a cross bar system capable of supporting awnings, roof boxes, tents, etc. Cross Bars — Gamiviti - https://www.gamiviti.com/cross-bars our towers are compatible with single slotted extrusions, like the 40mm..
And double slotted extrusions, like the 1x2...
And although my preference is to run a full rack system, I can see why some opt for a more basic cross bar approach. What makes our cross bars unique is that we're using the same extrusions as all of the bolt-together racks... which means every accessory for those will also work on these. And we're continuing to develop our own accessories compatible with these extrusion profiles as well.. .the next one of those will be a new awning bracket, which I am a little excited for. And lastly, for some folks cross bars have been a good transition between nothing and a full roof rack, as the towers are the same so you can put this first investment towards your full rack someday, even using the cross bars for other purposes on top of the rack.
And speaking of racks, we installed our first rack today... a "short rack." It's shorter than what will later become the full length rack, but wanted to first determine the factory tower spacing, and have an option for folks wanting a rack that is completely behind the sunroof. Rack is still 70.25" long, so it's not that short..
features included the lower, flared out side Expo bars, with gussets. That's your grab handle for all things having to do with gear on the rack, as well as just getting in and out of the vehicle. The side gussets are for adding shovels, axes, a hi lift jack, stuff like that. Of course these racks work with every other Gamiviti rack accessory as well, including traction board mounts and Rotopax, shown below:
Yeah there's a little wind noise on the short rack.. same as the 4runner and 100 versions of this same rack, just how it is. Could be mitigated by adding some tubing across the front bar, or adding a wind fairing, I suspect like the other vehicles though most will just opt for the full length version, which will come with our snap-on fairing- more to come on that. For this rack I'm still working on editing the video, building out another page on the site, also owe quite a few folks an email update... but I came here first.
Looking forward to your questions and comments, thanks! -tim
