I can find new power window regulator assembly for front doors (79 FZJ80). However I can not seem to find for rear doors.
? Are the fronts the same as rears, Just change sides maybe, because of motor polarity.
? What is best after market brand.
? Best place to buy or any suggestions.
? Would you suggest changing any slide in track or gasket.

? Also there is an outer seal made of plastic. Along top edge of door it is cracked what is this part called. I am sure its more than cosmetic but is this a must to change. Or get to it in time. It is on the exterior and it is covers the rubber seal that is to keep rain out as it comes down window.

Thanks for any information. All tips, advise and directions or good vendors. Greatly appreciated.

Also I saw the posts about good cruiser mechanics. Have not been able to search properly. If any ideas or whereabouts of good shop or individual. my location is Pensacola, FL 32505.

thanks again all and have a safe happy new year.

Each window regulator is unique to its door.

Some folks have had recent success installing window regulators from RockAuto, but sometimes, you get what you pay for.

Places to buy parts depends on if you're going to install yourself or have someone else do it.

The "plastic"part you are referring to are called "Belt Mouldings" There are two on each door. An inner and outer. These also exist on the rear sliding windows.

The window run is the rubber seal that the window slides in.

Each of the websites listed above can get you the info and part numbers you need.

Another source that you can contact is @beno and if you contact him, he can give you a complete set of everything you need related to the project, but you should buy the set from him for his service. He is THE most knowledgeable parts person on this forum and provides a service to this effect.

As far as a mechanic, go to the "Clubhouse" section above and locate a local group and ask there about the mechanics.

Take it apart and look at it. Then you will know.
After door panel is off it is (2) 10mm bolts to disconnect regulator from the glass.
Test the motor to see if it has 12V then watch how it works.
The $40 Universal motors from RockAuto.com work fine (google the 5% off Coupon).

Im willing to bet that you dont even need a new regulator. EVERY SINGLE time that i encountered a "bad window regulator" on the 80 series (and i worked a quite a few of them), it was bad because the commutator on the motor was dirty from brush material (graphite?). All you have to do is clean it, polish the commutator surface with 1200-1500 grit and reassemble. It has worked every single time to make the motor work like new.
Rock Auto motors, on the other hand.. They do burn out, in 2-3 years usually.

Prolly didn't need new but I did find that the plastic wheel that rides for and aft in the track was worn down. One side had a flat spot too and wasnt rolling anymore .This allowed a little slop in the regulator. Again no biggie but replaced em any way.
