Recently a friend broke a rear axle of his FZJ80. Where I can find chromoly rear axles? (semi float rear axle).

Thanks a lot!.

80 semi float is a bit unusual. You might check with Poly Performance. If anyone has them, it would be them.

Poly Performance can make them. I talked to (can't remember his name) a few years back and said they can make them no problem they just don't stock or list them on the site because there isn't a huge demand like them for the others they offer.

I would take this opportunity to swap to a Full Foater with the boggers and V8 its a good upgrade.

X2 phantom .. and PP have 4340 for FF .. Nitro it's also about to release FF 4340 axles too .

What were you doing to break it? I've only ever witnessed 2 SF axle shafts breaking and one was under me at the time... but in both instances we were bouncing on rocks... you appear to be on regular trails.

Watch the posted video you can hear it break.

oops. Yep. That'll do it. and a FF won't stop that from breaking. Maybe a a chromo shaft, maybe. But with that much torquing and combine it with the weight of the rig coming back on it: SNAP every time.

Yep I agree but a FF will mean that truck is still drivable in FWD out of the trail. Or at the very worst mobile enough to tow. With that SF failer the truck is not drivable or really tow able with out fixing it.

Yup and you can carry spare axles. Just pull the broken one out and slide a new one in. Don't even need to pull a tire off. Your on your way. FF axles can't be beat.

I have a set of Poly Performance FF chromoly's if interested. $290 plus the ride.

I've broke 2 SF in Tencha ... second one was in the middle of nowhere in local trail .. my rear disc setup safe my a** and allow me slow drive back to home ..

I asked to Poly Performance. There are no longer available:

"We don't have any semi float FJ80 shafts.

We no longer can make custom shafts either. Check with foote axle

--->Foote Axle & Forge L.L.C - Home (They did not have.).

You are right, FF are the way. Thanks to all!!.

Now we are looking for a Full floater, for use with CrMl axle shafts.

And are on the way 38.5 Boggers, to test these new axles!..haha.... :o

I broke two in one weekend. One from hopping one rocks and another got wedged under a slight overhang and the torque monster 3FE just snapped it like a twig.
