.....yes, number 5 is needed for my Dad's 100. This time the rack moves inside the frame from side to side every time you need to turn. It's horrible to drive! Road surfaces turn the tires on their own cause it's so loose!

So it turns out that Toyota no longer supports or has the re-man racks! OK...there was one left in Plano, TX. So no more $387. Now a new one costs $545.

So from here on out it's NEW ONLY. :censor:

And if possible I'd like some help from you all. My Dad said there were all kinds on threads on poly bushings...but he and I are dummy's on the poly bushings. What we want to do is:

Buy a new rack (did today)
Buy the poly bushing kit
Have our dealer swap bushings
Have the dealer install the rack

What we're not sure on is what bushing kit we need to hold it into the frame better. Any ideas experts? If I find the bushings then my Dad said I can drive the 100 for good as though it was mine. Even wheel it! He's not used it in almost a YEAR! I'm excited!

We're not sure what to conclude from what we read. We don't know if there are poly bushings that help keep the rack in place and others that help prevent leakage.

We only want to change to poly in the frame area and are not sure what to buy. We don't want to mess with anything that might affect leakage.

shotts keeps his truck all Toyota....poly bushings would go against his will..stay with Toyota. shotts son should know this, right?

Ya, he actually wants to swap the bushings if it's easy and if Precision Toyota will do it. Otherwise it's going on the way it is.

He's done wheeling and plans to clear the garage of all his spare parts. He's got like-new CV's and other parts he wants to just throw out. I told him I could sell them for him. He said to not worry about it.

Ya, he's went off the deep end wheeling/Roklimo wise.

Oh...and another reason he wants to try the poly bushings now? There are no more remans so there is no core any longer so he keeps the old rack.

His rack is not leaking. He could put poly bushings on the frame area and keep it for a spare...but he's getting rid of all his other spares. I think he's losing it. :) Sorry Pops!

FWIW I recently replaced the big steering rack bushing with a Toyota OEM bushing and that was all I needed. The old one was shot and the new one tightened everything back up nicely. I did not have to replace the rack thankfully so total cost was about $30 for the part... I actually ended up with two of the big bushings if anyone needs one...
