Hi Mud,

I pulled my fuel tank out today to get behind it and do some rust prevention. While it was out I thought I have a look at the the fuel pickup filter. Well there was no filter in there. The fuel I siphoned out of the tank was clean and I shined a torch in there and there is no muck. Fuel tank is clean and I've never had a fuel related problem. Is there sposed to be a filter on the fuel pickup tube? Has anyone ever checked theirs? Is it vitally important that there is a filter in the tank?

I wasn't sure how much fuel was in my tank but before a dropped it out I ran the fuel down to empty. Well there was still about thirty liters in their so it is a 90L tank. Good to know there is a couple of hundred ks left in it when the fuel gauge reads empty:)

Been spraying Penetrol under the cruiser. Real good stuff!!!

Its a piece of soft mesh that fits over the end of the pick up. It wont do any harm to have it.

Lanolin is even better for rust prevention but Pentrene?penetrol? is great for rust busting.
I used about a litre of the stuff when I was stripping down the 1HZ for a rebuild;)

Cheers for the reply Rosco. I'll see if the local Toyota dealership have any.

There was no rust under the body but I used the penetrol to seal it all up. Some parts had paint chips from rocks and stuff. Took alot of pressure spraying to get all the crap off. You could eat your dinner off the bottom of the cruiser now. I plan on using a Lanolin based product to finish the rustproofing. Something that I can spray on and hose off real easily. Getting ready for wheeling down at Canunda and Robe in January.
