Hey guys,

For those of you who have lifts, skid plates, sliders, front bumpers w/winches, and possibly rear bumpers, what is your average fuel economy?

Please give me the type of driving you do (highway, city, stop-and-go) and your average economy.

You don't have to have everything above, I just wonder how much the added weight effects fuel usage.

For me, I average about 11.7mpg now with the rear bumper installed and everything else. I drive mostly all city stop-and-go. Recently I've been trying to ease up on the throttle by trying to accelerate and stay under 2500 rpms, take foot off throttle when coasting to a red light ahead, turn slower, etc.

It definitely goes down as you add more weight and create more drag!! With all of the gear you mentioned plus a full 180 liter subtank and the drag created by a roof tent I am down to between 10 and 11 on the highway. Worse still, in Canyonlands, over the rocks, how does 3mpg sound?!!!!

JB,

When I get home I will take mine out for a drive and see how the new mod's have affected the fuel economy.

JB, I'm averaging around 13.5mpg with combined highway and small town driving. I've eased up on peddle quite a bit around town and when accelerating to hwy speeds. Earlier this week I drove 100 miles with a hurting 25mph cross wind and averaged 13.6. On the way back, this time with a helping cross wind, I averaged nearly 14.7. I've hand calcled my mpg for about 12 tanks and found my readout is on the mark. Just fyi, I removed my cross-rails soon after purchasing the truck. Don't know if it helps or not but they serve not purpose.

I get 10-25 city / hwy

25 on the highway! Jeez, that's good.

I thought california highways were considered "stop-and-go" driving? :hillbilly::flipoff2:

Around here with 75mph highways where you actually drive 80+, I can never get it to hold 6th gear...It's a constant downshift to 4th to get power and then back to 6th.

Hey JB,

My big T was showing 12.5 mostly around town and mountain driving. While a bit premature, this last week driving with the SC has shown an immediate jump to 14 - 15 during normal driving. I also had a short 60 mile run on the highway yesterday, 30 miles down, 30 miles back, rolling hills, running at 70mph most of the way due to traffic, truck indicated 16.1. Presumably this is due to the engine being able to hold a taller gear due to awesome torque. TRD even has an article on their webpage that talks about their SC vehicles showing better mpg on some of the EPA tests. Let's be real though, mpg after 70 - 75 goes in the toilet, and if you are having fun... forget it.

:mad:Stop rubbing your SC in our faces...if you wanna talk about it, go to TUNDRASOLUTIONS.COM or something.

No one needs to hear about the power gains or fuel savings. :flipoff2:

...by the way, Jowett is right, we should all be making the call, and emailing to get this thing. You would think there is enough LCs out there for them to manufacture a kit up.

I agree. Let's bug them until they either block all our phone numbers or simply recognize us by our breathing into the phone.

Done...I'm making my first call this morning...and every morning after.
