Hi team

Just recently picked up a Landcruiser and was happy to find an active forum of fellow owners.

A few days after I picked it up, I went on a ~750mi trip and had to refuel 4 times at the cost of around $600 in local money. Is this normal or could there be something else going on? Would it be any better if I got a Manual?

Auto 1998 VX Limited Landcruiser 100 JDM (UZJ100), 2UZFE, ~31 inch Mud Terrain tyres on stock rims.

Many Thanks

That seems pretty low. How many miles are you getting per tank? My LX is heavy 99 4 speed on 33" tires and I can get about 14 mpg on the highway. Maybe 14.5 mpg. But I can get around 275 mpg on a tank filling up about 20 gallons. So without knowing more I'd say you mpg seems a little low.

I’m afraid I’m too lazy to convert km to miles and liters to gallons, or find the NZ exchange rate, so I don’t know if your results are good, bad or ugly.

Stock 4.7 auto 100s average about 15mpg. Mud tires will lower that, mountains will lower it, a heavy foot will lower it. If you lift the truck and add drag devises to the roof it will lower it. I get ~15mpg in my stock LX470, and just under 13 in my built 100. I think my awning cost me a half mile per gallon all by itself, but it sure is nice to have when I need it.
