Can someone savvy with the FSM point me in the right direction to find the removal and installation instructions for the exhaust manifold studs in the cylinder head. I'm preparing to install headers and want to know where that information is.

I have combed through my FSM several times now looking for information about the exhaust manifold studs. I can find the page that details the installation of the manifolds (EM-57) but that is it.

Are yours broken? I ask because it's not a required replacement item. I did have a couple of them back out on their own. As others have said, double-nut and you're golden.

Thanks for the responses.

I haven't turned any wrenches yet, I'm just preparing myself before I take the plunge. I like to find the section in the manual to determine parts, torques, and hopefully ferret out any gotchas.

I'm guessing there's another manual that deals specifically with the engine that evidentially I don't have.

Can't say for certain about the 2000 MY, but the 2004 FSM linked to in the faq shows the torque spec in the Service Specifications section, page 17
Part tightened N·m kgf·cm ft·lbf Front exhaust pipe x Exhaust manifold 62 632 46

Sorry, wrong spec, hit the wrong key, don't know how to edit as yet. Anyway page 22 shows the following for manifold to head in Nm, Kgfcm, and lbf as Exhaust manifold x Cylinder head 44 450 33
