Guys, I met this man in our parts department one day and he later came to see me about selling his late 1997 production desert dune (my favorite color on these with the dark highlights like the black pearl emblems and dark insets on the wheels, etc.).

Anyway, he has posted on EBay before and had a winner that never paid. It is a nice truck with low miles around 130k. In the short drive i took, here is what I saw:
Runs strong and feels real solid. shifts well. Cold AC. at the time the sunroof and all windows worked. body looks in good shape, couple small dings in the hood.
Obvious needs: Trunions leaking, antenna inop, drivers seat bottom changed to matching but it is vinyl. Maybe a rear main slight leak? I didnt test the seat motors.

I believe he said he would take in the "9" range...hes hoping to make some $ on it but I know he is tired of the EBay nonsense. Maybe cash in his face would motivate his price?

Again, dont really know this guy. Never serviced at my dealership, didnt check it out on the lift, etc. But thought it good enough to pass on.

Oh yeah....NO lockers. putting it up becasue several folks have asked me to keep an eye out for a decent 80 with lowish miles >

I just talked to him on the phone. He is not in town but is going to arrange for me to look at it. Murf do you think it is worth 9k ? I have seen a ton of crap in the 6k range so I do not mind paying a little more for a clean truck.

Thanks
Shawn

IMO, Walt's truck would be a better buy, even at $13500.

From what I briefly saw, it is a nice truck that will need some of the typical items done.

Pricing.....it depends on who you talk to. I know of a locked 80 with the same miles that went for less recently. BUT - there arent alot out there.

The ones that are out there seem to go fast. I have been an hour to slow several times. I'm going to look at it this afternoon. Thanks for the information.

Shawn

less than half the price. Now you know as much as I do... I haven't called, but from the pics it has a OME lift/shocks, ARB front + winch, unknown on the lockers, but some high miles. It's on Tucson CL, so maybe someone down there knows about it?

1996 Toyota Land Cruiser Great condition

I went and looked at the truck. The body is clean. You can tell that it did spend a few years in PA and it is not an AZ truck. The few things that Murf mentioned were found. All five tires were 9 years old and dry rotted. I told the guy that I would give him 9k for the truck. He got mad and threw a fit saying that he should be getting at least 12k for the truck. He went on to tell me how the truck does not have any leaks and the old tires are a sign that it has not been driven. He then told me how he gets tons of calls on the truck every day and the market is going up. I wished him luck and I was done. He is not a Cruiser enthusiast and is looking to make as much as he can on the truck. The search contunues.

Sounds like the dickhead Kevin and I dealt with in Tucson when I was looking.
Here's my offer.:D
I have offers for more.
So why's it still here and why isn't it licensed, what's it going to take?
Much more than that.
Go fawk yourself then.:flipoff2:

Now Im sorry I even posted up for this guy. Hes been trying to sell this truck for almost two months I think on Ebay where he got stiffed.

He told me he would sell in the 9K area. The few phone calls he got must of got his greed up. :o
