Someone please help. Am working on a LC 200 V8 Petrol A/T. On standstill the engine revs smoothly all the way to 6000rpm plus. On the road it drives well until 3500rpm then it doesn't go beyond this. Ave checked the fuel line by disconnecting the pipe and cranking and the delivery is ok. The fuel filter had been changed only recently. please someone help urgently.

suggest you post this on LCOOL.org.au. Sounds like an ECU fault causing the engine to go into limp mode. Try disconnecting batteries completely then reconnecting. May clear the fault on reboot. Otherwise you may need to get the fault code read.

The knock sensors could cause to go a limp mode. Do you have any error codes detected ?

Try checking for codes, even though it may not have a Check engine/ Mil lamp on doesn't mean there isn't a fault. I would Highly suggest you check your air intake for cracks in the intake tube, or loose clamps etc.. If all is well then check your Mass airflow sensor. That is Usually a main culprit in limp mode. Also lets get a better description. Does Your cruiser shift through all of its gears? Does it shift smoothly? Even though it only revs to 3500 rpm doesn't mean its the engine, it could be your transmission isn't shifting properly. That can cause your engine to "bog down" Think of it like a manual gearbox, if you shift from 2nd to 4th there would be a huge lag and your engine wouldn't rev high because of the ratio change.
