Just curious; Why is there a hole in the front valence panel? Is there a purpose for it?

It's to hand-crank start the engine. Bad news is it only works if you have a diff radiator/motor setup...it's just there to tease us in NA, if in Africa it's functional...

The PTO whole is in the front frame cross member. The whole nearly centered in the front lower valence is as stated, for a hand crank to start the truck. Look at the FJ40/55, they have them and are functional. The jack handle in these also doubles as the engine crank handle.

Well then I stand corrected. Thanks, I can now stop misinforming the world, I can leave that just to our politicians

Hey, here in Olympia you? I use to live in Tumwater when my wife was going to Evergreen.

My 55 had the same whole and the bolt that held the lower pulley on the crank was set-up for a crank-start (had the ejection ramps for when it cranked over to release the lever.

Its the rubber band replacement port

This is no lie but on a few occasions I've opened the hood to find bits of bread leftovers inside the engine compartment. I've presumed it was squirrels that put it there. Now I know where they get in from.....
