I just got my Dobinson front and rear bumpers on my 2012 Premium. The rear bumper came with mounting holes for the rear sensors, but the front doesn't have any. The group that did the install didn't want to try to install on the front bumper. I went to an aftermarket Audio shop and they said the sensors from the plastic bumper won't mount into the steel bumper and they didn't know of any that might work. Any one run into this? is there a fuse to disable them if I can't put them in the bumper?

Also, I am relocating the rear camera, supposedly the SSO kit works on the 460.
thanks in advance

The mounting locations are just clearance holes. The sensors are held to the factory bumper by mounting tabs that are stuck to the bumper with dual-side foam tape. Just drill clearance holes in the bumper the same diameter as the ones in the factory bumper (making sure to paint back over the cuts to prevent rust). Then cut off the sensor mounts from the factory bumper by cutting through the tape. Clean the tape off, prep the surface with some rough sand paper and rubbing alcohol. Add new foam tape to the tabs on the brackets. Then place the sensors in the brackets and locate them in the sensor locations, making sure to put them back in the same locations (they are location-specific).

For more information see my build thread, I think on the 2nd or 3rd page. My bumper had the holes pre-drilled, but the other steps are shown there.

Thanks!!! Its on page 2 (I started at page 3 and did the whole thread again lol). Not sure what that didn't pop up in the search. I have the plastic front that they cut off with the sensors...now to find the receptacle under the truck and figure out which one goes to which sensor. I think I will use that ARB bumper as a template also to where to drill, seems very similar to the Dobinson.

Oops, sorry about the page misquote, but hopefully it wasn't a waste of your time. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck!

huge help! thanks

My MetalTech bumper came with the holes already drilled for the front sensors, BUT there was not any notches for proper orientation. The guys at YotaMasters said it was difficult to get the sensors rotated in the correct position to work.
So just a heads up, once you drill the holes you'll need to play around with rotating them until they work right.

R2M, I am not sure what YotaMasters was referring to, but I am confident the sensors are not rotationally dependent. They are location-specific though, so you want to place the correct sensor at the correct location, and the inner and outer sensors use different retention brackets. But neither the ARB bumper nor the stock bumper had notches, so I can't I don't know what YotaMasters would be looking for one.

Removing and re-mounting the adhesive-stuck retention brackets correctly is important. You want to make sure that the sensor is as centered as possible in the clearance holes and that the surface is flush with the outside surface of the bumper to prevent false readings, but I think those are the only mounting concerns.
