I have a 95 LC with the Toyota symbol in the front grill. I personally prefer the earlier model 80's with the Toyota spelled out. Will the old grills fit the 95-97? Any input is appreciated.

The answer is yes, however , I did read, that there could be a small gap around the headlights. Nothing big, worth the old skool look....... Use the search engine on here for members that did the grille swap with pictures, etc.

Good Luck

Thanks much

I asked the same thing and was told that the lower cowling had to be changed out too. It's apparently a different shape.

I do know the 93 to 97 bumper filler (valance) will leave a 1/2/" or so gap between it and a 91 to 92 grill. The gap is on the lower corners of the grill. The bottom also doesn't line up completely. That's why we ended upgrading our grill to the newer one. See post #35 here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...ay-school-girl-backs-into-my-sons-fj80-2.html
Not sure about how the 93 or 94 grill with the TOYOTA letters fits a newer truck (95 to 97).

I saw a '96 with a '93 grille on it just the other day.

Looked ok to me. Can't comment on headlight fitment because it also had aftermarket projector xenon headlight assemblies that looked like they were straight out of Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. The driver swore that they gave him thoroughly awesome illumination and i have to sort of take his word for it because i love the xenon projector headlights on my VW.

He also may have taken all of the front plastics and his hood off of the '93. He stated that he bought one that had been run into a tree, and fixed it up.

like I said all input is appreciated. im no expert but if you parked a 90-92, 93-94 and a 95-97 all in a row im not sure I could tell the difference in front fascia. I thought the biggest differences were the ones you cant see, minus the alien symbol. what gives?

I have a 96 and swapped in a 92 grille. There is a 1/2" gap between the lower valance and the grille. It really isn't noticeable. If you're really anal you could swap in the older valance. There's no gap around the headlights.

You either have to cut off a small tab on the headlights where the grille attaches or notch the grille on the back side. I chose to cut off the tab because it's easier.

Also, you have to drill a small hole in the center support bracket. It's a really easy swap. If you're really anal you could swap the valances too. The hardest part was that my bull bar made it hard to get at the screws.
