Hi,

Some of you may have seen my post where I was designing a bumper for the 60's and 62's. Recently I was talking to a freind of mine and he said there was a differance. He said that with ARB they have now made the bumpers to fit both 60's and 62's but you have to use spacers or somthing....

I did a search and it basically confermed that there is a differance and spacers are needed somwhere but thats about it....

What I am wondering is what is the differance in the frame's? Width, height, etc?
And where does ARB use Spacers? Is it for the 60's or the 62's?

Any info would be apreciated

thanks....

have you look in the tech section here I remeber seeing drawings of the chassis but otherwise the manuals on the Birfield site under Product Literature or something like that have the body and chassis manuals maybe you can find it there...sorry it's under Product Manuals here is the link http://www.birfield.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=77

I don't think the frames are different, but I know the bumper brackets that are riveted to the frame are different sizes. The FJ-62 bracket being larger. So in theory you could cut off the correct sized bracket for what you want to do and bolt it onto the frame.

If you get rid of the brackets the frames and even the bolt holes are the same.

'62 bumpers are higher (ie: top surface to bottom surface spacing is greater). I can't say if it's just the brackets or not though. If you're making just one, make it for the '62 and offer spacers for '60's.

This is exactly right. The rivited wings are higher on the 62. Everything else is the same. It's a minor difference. I have an FJ62 bumper on my FJ60, and had to make 20mm spacers front of the bumper "wings". I made the spacers from 3/4 pipe in 5 minutes, so it's a trivial difference.

The rear crossmembers are different if you're planning any rear end fab.

FJ-60 on the left, FJ-62 on the right. Not the best picture.

Not at all thats a great picture.... Do you have any messurments of the hights of each?

Hears a Question? How would people feel about removing the brackets that are rivited on, so the bumper could be mounted directly to the frame?
