Hello
I am planning on getting a pair of front aluminium fenders from Aquala for my 42, but I was told the FJ 40 fenders are different. Does anybody know the difference, and can they be modified to fit a BJ 42 easily?
Thanks
waaz

there is no big difference... i have used gasser fenders on diesels in the past with little or no mods...

Ya have aqualu fenders on my 81 42 they fit pretty awsome actually had to cut a bit for the steering gear box and make a couple supports but that was about it.

I don't like the look of mine (all this done by the PO). The Aqualus throw off the fitment of body parts on the whole front end.... these are probably 1st gen (?)--don't know if they've improved them. I plan on replacing with new steelies or fiberglass when that day in the far future comes and I do a body off resto...

I have molds, and can knock off fiberglass ones fairly quickly. made some for the old bj40 last week, 2 inches narrower, and 2 inches shorter so they can be mounted up closer to the hood, and still look stock....could probably make wider ones too.

stock is definately easiest tho.

Thank you for the info
My 42 has the first generation tub and I will get the fenders and half doors
thanks again
