Hi all,

Had a bad experience a couple of weeks ago, rear ended a GM SUV while driving my 2007 Tacoma TRD p/u.
The rear hitch on the SUV t-boned the front bumper bad. Also, other front end items (grill, head lights, etc.) seem out of alignment.

Anyone else have experience dealing with a front end collision in late model Tacoma 4wd?

Thanks,

Alan

Bummer, Alan. Did you get air-bagged?

Any photos?

Don't text and drive, kids. :(

Hi All,

Nope, no air bags Todd (sorry to disappoint you! ;-P )

The front end plastic (bumper, grill, etc.) is just a bit f*cked-up currently. :-(

Must not have been a very hard impact. How did it happen?

If the damage didn't go deeper than the aluminum bumper and crush cans, and the frame ends are still straight, then you could install an ARB bumper in its place. As far as other items (lights, grills), I guess you need to start taking things out to figure out what is bent. Depends how anal you are at this point with the truck.

Was merging onto northbound Hwy. 99 at the viaduct, by Safeco Field. I was looking over my shoulder to merge into the left lane when the guy in front of me stopped, because the guy in front of him slowed-down.

Agree with a adding an ARB bumper

Honestly I would not even be dealing with the question of what "could" be damaged. I think the best course of action is to find the best auto body shop in your area, and drop your truck off for them to deal with it. When it comes to body damage, the impact often damages parts that you can't see until the tear down work happens.

Hi all,

Zack, that is the conclusion I came to. Too many brittle plastic parts that break under pressure! :(

My Tacoma is scheduled to go into the body shop for repairs on July 7th.

Thanks,

Alan
