I've finally been able to throw some parts, time and money at the old CDM spec 70 series. While I still have my work cut out for me in fixing and painting some trouble spots. I would like to look after something that's been on the back burner since I did my lift. A nasty noise from my front diff... When I first put the 3 inch OME lift on I thought the noise was just because of my new more steep drive shaft angle. Now it seems like the noise has gotten worse. Basically when in 4 high anything over 30 kmph I get a nasty growl that I notice mostly when slowing down.
I just took the front drive shaft off and there is some play in the face plate the drive shaft bolts to on the front diff. All u joints are good no play, but not tight, well greased and in good shape drive shafts are from a JDM truck..
I've never gotten into doing the front diff and don't have any experience with them. I did some searching, but I keep being led to knuckle rebuilds which I did a couple years back.
So can anyone give some guidance? Thoughts on the noise?
