Hey guys I just ordered some OEM front U joints and I am picking them up tomorrow from a local dealership. I have never done any driveline work before and was wondering if anybody had either instructions or videos on how to remove the front driveshaft properly. I have watched a Scotty Kilmer video where he did this procedure on a 3rd generation 4runner but was wondering if it is pretty similar. Thanks in advance.

Should be much the same. It's dead simple, just four bolts at each end. Make sure to chock the wheels, once you start torquing on the bolts, the wheels may move. You'll probably want to spin the shaft halfway through the job for better access to the hardware. Put truck in neutral, spin shaft 180*, put in park, remove hardware.

Alright thanks man I appreciate it. I know I have been spamming these threads with all these questions about this but this is about to be the biggest job I have done by myself with my limited amount of tools.

If you remove the driveshaft, be sure to mark the orientation beforehand so that it connects the same and doesn't develop any balance issues.

I guess I would just mark them with a wax marker or something of the sort correct?
Stickers or little dimples from a center punch be better

Saw you got information on how to remove the shaft and slip york.

There is a C-clip on each cup (4 cups per U-joint). remove those C-clips and have a bigger socket to receive the removing cup and smaller socket to press the opposite cup. Use a wise or a press and do NOT hammer as shock can dislodge needle bearings and make matters worst.

Do not put too much pressure to force a cup out. Spray WD40 and lubricate the cup and drive shaft mating surface. Too much force can bend the ears/loops that holds the cup.

Once installed make sure all C-clips are fully seated.
I've done it multiple times and it is very easy.
