Hi I have a 99 lC with 200k on it. I was at a stop sign all of sudden I heard a big bang like something exploded now my front drive shaft is making a rattling sound. I clicked on the Central Diff button and the sound stopped and I was able to drive the car home. If the issue was in the transfer case or differential the sound wouldn't just stop by clicking a button?

Were you not able to move in drive until you locked the center diff? If so, check your drive flanges rather than your drive shaft.
Likely the c-clip has fallen off the end of the CV and the hub has walked out off the splines or ground them off. Few threads on this if you search. Best case, new clip, worst case, new flange and/or CV.
