Front Coilover for the 100

I don't think there is a big market for a 100/470 in the US for "bolt on" style kits. Other than what we already have. I think it is up to us to try some different things...

There is always semi-custom work possible. If we got several trucks at once, the cost may be contained slightly.

This idea of running a light coilover in combination with the t-bars is interesting. Tons of low spring rate coilovers already being produced for the "sand rail" and vw racing aftermarket. Just need the right combination of spring rate and valving...

You are absolutely right, calamardog. I just cannot find one with the correct spring rate, valving, stroke and attachment style.

BTW John, I forgot to mention removing the sway bars helped a lot off-road. Very good articulation, I can fly trough rough roads (as long as it doesn’t run out of travel) and generally very complaint suspension.

ah......thats makes sense.

It looks to me that the picture was taken from the front and the T Bars are obstructed by the rotor.

I'm have to admit that I am still getting familiar with the 100 suspension. I've only had the truck for a few days now. Most of my experience with IFS is the Tacoma, 4runner, and Tundra.

I'm not sure what area you are in but I have King, Fox, RaceRunner (SAW), and Doetsch all within 100 miles (Socal). If we know what we need, we can approach these companies and price some of this stuff. Doetsch is a smaller company and may be our best bet... Valving can be customized, and limit straps can be used if need be.

This person who is experimenting with the t-bar/coilover set-up. How is it working for him???

As far as the sway bar goes, did you remove it for wheeling? Or did you fab up a disconnect of some sort. The IFS will definitely travel more without it.

I'm waiting to get on the 100scool list so I can read up on more stuff. Anyone know how long it takes??? I'm fired up to read more...

Regards, Bryan

Doron and I are in Tucson. There is NOTHING in Tucson. It seems like I/we drive to Phoenix or order via internet for everything. If I lived in So Cal, I'd a paid for a custom long arm IFS years ago. Out here, not a chance.

Doron's Expo 100 has been made for long range travel. He permanently removed the bars because it flexes much better even with our Tbar lifts. It's not his daily driver so he's OK with that. I wish I could pop them off my 100 but that wouldn't be safe for me.

more travel

Coilover w/ tbar only seems to make sense for high load carrying capacity. If you are looking for more travel, at minimum we will need upper a-arms that allow more droop, and longer shocks. Total chaos makes arms for all other IFS toyotas, besides LC. They even do arms for the latest 4runner. I spoke with them, and if there is enough interest they may make some. Check 'em out at

I believe the interest is there. Between USA and especially Aussies if the product was available there'd be takers. Figure in the fact that 80's are aging and 100's are becoming more affordable and that's a formula for somebody to make some $$$z. And somebody better frickin' get us a 4.88 REAR gear dang it! :flipoff2:

I looked at that system at chaos. Here is a thought/idea. Why couldn't any fab shop make a tube u-a arm? If the Kar tek 1" joint will work, the washers could be purchased OE i.e. I assume they are the same size if they are bolt on. I have not looked at the 100 arm but I would think they would be a lot a like.

Total Chaos is owned by North West Off Road (NWOR). I would hesitate to buy a candy bar from them. I mean, if they were the only one, then yes, I'd have too...

Camburg can make the same thing for less $$$. Inland Truck could make them as well. And if you are willing to pay big $$$ then the total number of units is less important.

What I am thinking is either a (1) 2.5 Coilover with a heavy spring, maybe 700lbs??? OR the stock t-bar and some 2.0 Coilovers with a very light spring, say maybe 150-200lbs. PLUS, the new upper uni-ball arms for the additional travel:)

Or, am I writing checks I can't cash??? LOL

ifs fab people

Is anyone local to any of these ifs fab people? I have to drive mine everyday, so until I get my 60 done, I have to minimize downtime. This case is probably true for most though.

I have some ideas for the 100 IFS front running a coil over, and getting rid of the T bars all together, but I havent had a customer request us to fix one "properly" as yet, to get to work on it.
