I have a LX450 with Dobinson IMS 6in struts. The coils are currently 3.5in VTs (C97-144/145). The rear is heavy, but the front is somewhat light which has resulted in ~1in squat to the rear. I am fine with the ride height in the back, but need to lower the front. I already have a spacer in the back, so using spacers is out as they aren't long enough and I'd prefer to get the front an inch or so lower. The problem is there aren't a lot of springs available that have the correct free height and lift #s for use with 6in dampers, they are 50mm-ish too short and fall out.

I tried using C59-612V coils up front, but they are too short by a few inches and risk falling out at full extension. With everything bolted up, we could pull them out by hand at full extension. I have seen some Australian brands make spring retainers for front/rear, but no one in the US makes them for the front. The purpose would be to keep the spring in place at full flex, so it can slide back into the perch on the top of bump stop without the risk of it falling out.

I know these are used for other long travel setups with Jeeps/etc, but couldn't find much on doing it up front in the US market for 80s. Has anyone made something like this and run into any issues?

I'd also love to see examples if someone has made this or if any are available in the US I missed (I'm aware Delta makes them for the rear). I'm trying to avoid the expense of changing to 4in struts and use what I have, if possible, but I don't want to risk a setup that causes problems.
 
Based on the fact you are talking articulation I’ll assume you plan to do some serious wheeling. You don’t want a spring to become unloaded. Things can get wonky and that wheel would be doing you no good. Either buy a shorter shock absorber or install limit straps to keep the springs under some load.
