Front and Rear Bumper purchase...any suggestions?

Under-vehicle spare mount doesn't work with the 4x4Labs rear bumper.

Look at BumpIt Offroad in Colorado for a front bumper. Mike has some very interesting designs and options for very fair prices. He'll do the plate winch bumper w/o winch mount for a nice clean look with great protection.

I'd be interested to see what you could come up with Stan. Too bad we can't get someone to leave a donor truck at your place for a while. I'd love to see a tubing knock-off of the Slee "short bus" front bumper...

I took a look at the Short Bus bumper. I don't think it would be hard to do something along those lines in all tube.

I know I was supposed to call you a while back Stan, but I could possibly could be the donor vehicle. I just have to get the clutch in my Focus fixed...

And I love the look of the shortbus bumpers, also...

No worries Brian, I figured that you have been busy. Just let me know when you are ready.

Stan

Stan - I can give you a donor 62!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind having you fab up a front, rear and sliders for mine...

Just let me know when you are ready to go. Shoot me a PM with your number when you are ready and we can talk about it. You can see some of my bumpers on the web site in my sig line.

So do we have enough people to make this happen? How long did it take to ship for the first set? How long does it take to fab up per bumper? Could we make this a Charlotte HAMOM, and let Al's guy powder them (if people want them done?)? Could we incorporate a ONSC-styled swing out? Parts list? Additonal HAMOM?

Let's get this party started!

Greg can answer the ship info and I think we have 5 which is the minimum I believe.

How long, now that we've done a few, I'd estimate 30 min for removal of stock bumper/cutting the cross-member (gotta love the plasma for such tasks), 2-2.5 hours for set up, prep for welds, tack welds and finish welding.

If I recall, Al said they couldn't do bumpers since the oven wasn't big enough.

Swing out, we can make one like Greg's easy (though he'd hate having more copies of his unique swingout) or something similar.

Parts list...welder, couple grinders, beers, tubing bender for swing outs, beers, misc hand tools, plasma for cutting the cross-member or sawzall, did I mention beer?

I'm ready also, we should make a formal thread and see if we really have the 5 to get the order started...

MetalTech makes a pretty cool front bumper. He also gives a discount for the military I think. 4x4labs bumper looks pretty sweet but is $$. I have the ARB for the front and love it.

Ahh, I was thinking it was the blasting cabinet that was the size restriction...

I say let's go for it...

sounds good to me. Like i mentioned earlier im in for the buy. Ive got two grinders,a sawzall, and can get a bunch of grinding wheels. Ive also got a hobart 140 110v welder we can use if its large enough.

Depending on the timing (house sale), I am totally in. I would like to do both of the 4x4 labs swingouts. I can offer a sawzall and a grinder or two. I have few welding skills, but I really would love to learn. I can offer lotsa  too.

Make it happen, but not too fast! Gotta sell a house first.

Yeah, I'm not the best welding and would love to pick up some more skills. This would be a great HAMOM for everyone!

How exactly are you guys going to get me these bumpers??? Or were you planning on building them down here and then picking them up later when they are done

That would be the million dollar question and answer.

At this point, we need to get organized and have Greg contact Luke at 4X4 labs to see if we can still get the deal. Then, we need to decide the best place to have them drop freight shipped. Greg had it done at his office on the previous buy. If that's the case again, I'd say to build them up here, then have them delivered to you for powder coating and pick up.

If the get delivered to somewhere in Charlotte, build would be down your way, etc.

Frankly, I think this will be a case by case situation. In my case, I'll be also building a spare tire swingout and that won't get done in a HAMOM day. And, if others want the same, it could be a REALLY busy day for a HAMOM. If we just do the Ashcroft swinger knock-off (he does expect a royalty for each knock-off), I could bend them up pretty quickly since I have the template for them.

So, in short, we need to get organized to see how many we have, start taking deposits, get the order set up with the shipping destination set, then work from there.

I don't see that you'll be getting 5 bumpers dropped off all at once though...

I agree with the deal, deposit, shipment plan. Worse comes to worse, I could make a trip to CLT with my trailer. Let's hit them up as a sponsor for the Tide Ride! We could make an extra bumper, throw our stickers on it, and raffle it away...
