Sweet truck but I am a little confused. I thought there was a 15 year importation rule. If there wasn't I would have imported a newer vehicle myself! How does one get around these loopholes without getting your imported vehicle impounded and crushed?

You say that the add has no affiliation with you so I don't expect answers. Just putting the questions out there to see if there are any answers.

x2 i would like to know ..... that truck is why i dont own a taco....waiting

a mine truck that never made it to the mine.

Exactly! This issue is that a mine truck that didn't make it to the mine is not legally allowed on the road (from what I have read and understand).

Looks like a good deal if it hasn't spent time in a mine. Nothing in a ad says anything about the importation. Having made loan payments on a German spec 70 series that was seized and crushed by the feds I'd want some very detailed and specific confirmation that it is in fact legal for my jurisdiction.

(BTW, if you every meet a guy named Dave Baranyi, kick him in the nuts for me)

Nope, not a mine truck, I talked to the owner several years ago. Truck was legally imported as a piece of farm equipment! Eventually it made its way to the road. I think the rules may be a little relaxed here in NS.;)

They are relaxed in this province as well. Mine spent years registered and on the road before the FEDS showed up and took it.

All that being said, this one is a real temptation. The price is right and I happen to know of a factory box between here and there that could be picked up on the way back.

How the truck got here

The truck was originally owned by the uncle of the current owner. That uncle imported 2 trucks with him when he emigrated from Holland .
Apparently you can bring what you own with you. That is probably only part of the story though.
They were used on a farm until the current owner bought them
both. He now ploughs with one but AFAIK he has never ploughed
with this one.

IF I didn't own an 86 HJ60 and an 87 BJ70 I'd be looking hard at this truck.

I am looking hard at this truck and there is no way that I can see that it can be legal unless the rules were different when the rigs were imported. My rig was originally seized from it's German immigrant owners before it was bought from an auction and sold to me. This was in the late 90s.

Great info. Makes me wonder .............

If I get the chance I'll check the door plate info.

I may not be seeing the truck any time soon though.

BTW these trucks have been on the road in Halifax for

at least 4 years.

mine truck confirmed, off road only sticker on the driver door still there.
no airbag........it is a difficult one for sure if changing country or province!

So in other words, this truck could be impounded and crushed at any time!

How do you know ?

I'm not challenging you , just curious.

It is a complaint based system.

If someone were to complain and the customs division of the RCMP was bored that day...

In my case the immigrant owners were notified that the truck was not allowed and sold it around the family to try to make it disappear off the radar. RCMP eventually seized it and sold it at a public auction with specific instructions that it had to be parted or exported. Somebody bought it, licensed and insured it and drove it to the US. Got paper work showing it left and then turned around and drove it home. Dave Baranya drove it for a few years in Edmonton till he broke the head on it. Fixed it up, rolled back the ODO and then sold it to me. I happened to move to Calgary the following month, right to the neighborhood of the original German owners who called the RCMP irate that their truck was still being driven in Canada. A few days later I got a knock on the door.

If I'd never moved to Calgary I might still be driving the truck today.

When and where did you view the truck?
