Howdy! I know someone ( NOT ME!) that just put 4 gallons of gas in his diesel before he noticed the pump handle was the wrong color. He drained it out, and is now trying to get rid of the mixed fuel.

Aren't all diesel pumps supposed to have green handles? He found a GAS pump with a green handle. Is there a state/federal law that covers this? John

I don't know about the law, although I'd expect it to be covered, but I'm sure an attorney would cover it. :D

Did run with it, or drain it out at the gas station?
He drove it about 15 miles home, and then drained it. It is a 97, no computer or fancy junk on the engine. Probably would not of hurt it, the fuel was about 10% gas. When he drained it, he said it looked like it was kind of seperated, but not completely. I told him to add it back into the tank at one gallon per tankful, and it will be at about 0.5%. Not enough to notice. It will take him about til Xmas to use it up that way. What else can you do with it? It would be considered hazardous waste. What a pain. I am going up to the station tomorrow to get pix of the pumps.

you could call weights an measures
Yea, that's what I told him. I may get on the phone tomorrow for him. He works about 12 hours a day, and it is hard for him to make private calls, especially when it is to our wonderful state buearocketsky!!

Just pour it down the storm drain. No one will notice.

Edit: This is a JOKE. Not to be confused with a real response in which something like "dispose of it in a responsible, environmentally sensitive manner".

Ooooh! Did someone say "Mickey Bomb"?

The local Sinclair station has green handles at all their pumps. This got my father in law a few years back. I ended up with 25 gallons fuel for my lawn mower and our old Jeep. I don't think there is a standard for color coding of the handles.
