 Ok now I have your attention, heres the deal. I need to borrow a 3 1/2 " hole saw and I could use a second set of hands installing my snorkel on my 80 series. I was going to do it this weekend but the MAF sensor is bad and I cant drive the truck till I get the part on Monday, so if your in the far east valley this weekend and want to lend a hand and a big hole saw send me a message .
Oh and since I work :steer: for Kalil Bottling , ( the people that bottle and distribute Monster for the entire southwest) I get a pretty good deal on it ,I will give you a case of your choice.

Shoot me a PM. I'm just around the corner and have tools.

Just did this mod last weekend, can be available to lend a hand as well....

so was it a diffacult install ? I cant seem to find a way to get my hands far enough inside the fender to put the nuts on.
I cant drive the truck till my parts come in Monday so if I do it this weekend Y'all would have to come to my house.
I'm in Apache Junction ,

You can always take OFF that whole Fender and tighten up the bolts...

Other people have mentioned removing the motor for the antenna to access the bolts from that little hole in the engine bay into the fender too.

In a word YES!. There did not seem to be enough room humanly possible to fit hands in there to start the nuts. I finnaly had to set the nuts in a box end ratchet and slip em up there to get them started. All in all not impossible, but a pain in the a**. Removing the power antenae is mandatory / a good idea IMHO as well to give more room. Safari Snorkey instructions quoted 75 minutes start to finish - I came in at twice that.

Howdy! Dumb question; what's that hanging on your rear bumper? John

nuts are easy...just need the right angle...if you come to the meeting on Friday I can show you and if you need it I have the saw too. I am in the FAR west valley so not really able to help out, however.

Curb feelers. :D

Close...

the rear bumper was still being mocked up at that point, and I was setting the spacing on both sides to an equal width prior to burning on the tack welds to make the mounts. I just happened to have an acceptable width grinder chuck that worked just fine...

Good eyes John!

Just realized yesterday that I dont have the right holesaw. If Rob brings his saw and Jess brings the template and snorkle. I'll bring the air drill and we can do it right there on the spot. You leave the meet with a slightly more modified rig than what you showed up with.

Sorry for not getting back with you on this Jesse. I'm just getting over a case of strep that has entirely kicked my ass.

I should be there with an unlimited air supply. John

I will bring the saw... and step drill bit. I also can get those two bolts for you if you would like. Let me know when you will be there because my fam might be coming to this meet which will limit my bsing a little.

wow thanks for all the help guys, I may have to wait till the next meeting to get you all together to help. I am dealing with a parts supply fiasco so I can get my Cruiser running again. I need a Mass Air Meter and I never thought it would be so much trouble!
I first ordered one from BAPs it looked the same but it was for a 4 cylinder pickup with a 2 1/2" air tube, mine is 3", then I tried here on the forum and had several offers but no one returned my any email for a couple days so I ordered one from checker and waited 4 days, went to get it Monday and they forgot to order it !! I already paid them over $500 , so I got a refund and went back to the forum , found a guy in New York that had one from a '91 for $123 I sent extra money to overnight ship it. that brings me to today, I got my MAF installed it doesnt work !!! I dont know if the guy I bought it from will refund my money, I asked and he told me it was in working condition. so I went back to checker and ordered once again and this time made sure they actually ordered it but it is'nt going to be here till the 23rd .
So I may show up to the meeting anyway but I wont have my Cruiser:crybaby:

Are you sure the original airflow meter is bad?
I have one sitting here from a 91 Hilux. Guy thought his was bad, so he swapped it out. Didn't fix his issue.

Oh yeah I'm sure the air meter is bad.
Against my better judgment I let a friend help me do a tune up. He decided it would be easier to remove the air cleaner but couldn't get the plug off the MAF so he unscrewed it and pulled all the wires out !!!
I took it apart and half assed put the wires back. It runs and drives but the idle is really high and the check engine light came on. It gives me a trouble code 31.my book says that is the MAF
The truck ran fine before.

the good old "I'll help with that" my dad has a speed boat that fell pray to that 32 years ago on an engine rebuild and it is still sitting in pieces. It use to have a 500+ hp motor and would go on water. Good luck.
