Currently being restored, in Casa Grande Az. Tantalizingly ever so close to completion ! After about a 15 year hiatus setting under a big white Poplar tree...IT’S ALIVE !!
No longer pure Toyota, it’s now a mixed blood beast, a hybrid creation. The chassis & motor is from a 2006 Silverado. The frame was chopped as well as the box. It has the 5.3 engine and a 4L60E transmission. I anticipate welcoming the approximate 9 inch wider wheel base. As well as disc brakes & air conditioning, and affordable parts !
Since I set wider now I opted to add 4 inches of steel to the front fenders. We are using Jeep fender flares for the box to keep all the flyin’ earth where it belongs. When those are added it will somewhat have the look of my ol’ 1958 Willy’s pickup.
Tires, wheels, & seats, cruise control & a lift kit are the budget busters holding me back so far. 35 inch behemoths are on the itinerary. We are going to build a rear bumper w/hitch yet and have a few other odds & ends to finish up.
Believe it or not found some Led side marker lights that were from Iowa80.com truck stop that fit perfectly and only cost $15 a piece !
