I've been a reader of Ih8mud for over a year now and first found this site when researching for the purchase of my 1998 LX. I felt confident in purchasing a 100 Series with somewhat high mileage (167k on the clock now) after reading about how bullet-proof these trucks really are. Without too much to contribute, this site became my daily obsession and Thanks to its members I have soaked in an immense wealth of knowledge. Finally, after snapping a few photos with my new GY DTs, I have something to post.

A little about my 100 Series:
1998 LX470 Woodland Pearl
167k
285/75r18 Goodyear Duratracs
Everything else is stock.

She was remarkably clean when purchased at 162k and the prior owner serviced at the dealer with all records, but they had not done the150k major service. People are still amazed that this truck is now 16 years old and looks and runs like it does. I was now 2nd owner. It has had t-body replaced around 85k and lived most of its life as a DD grocery getter. I wanted to have piece of mind so I replaced every fluid including AHC, heater t-hose, replaced the front diff mount, rattling cat shields, engine and cabin air filters, throttle body cleaning, detailed the interior, and clay-barred/wax/polished the Green paint. About two months after the purchase also had to replace an ignition coil when the CEL came on. My first and only upgrade has been my Goodyear DT 285s which give the truck a completely different feel/look/mentality and yes the 285s fit in the spare spot with no problems. The LX pulls a Yamaha Waverunner FXHO like there is nothing behind it and made several camping trips to the lake this summer. The wife thinks this will be the kid mobile some day so I have strict orders to keep the running boards on. Currently it's our 3rd car and if it's not headed to the lake or the snow, it gets driven to Costco on the weekends. Sliders, new shocks for all corners, and rear upper and lower control arms are next on the list.

This weekend we went to Mammoth Mountain in hopes to hit the slopes. We planned 2days of snowboarding, but because of no snow, (luckily) it became one day of snowboarding and one-day of off road wheelin. For its first trip off highway, I am VERY impressed. Height control in high, transfer case locked, this thing is a beast even stock. I never thought I would be off-roading through the Sierras in January! We were the only ones out there and Laurel lakes Trail had epic views. Not only did the LX perform well off highway, the 12+ hour from the SF Bay to the Eastern Sierras and back was downright enjoyable. These trucks are amazing. I am in love again.

Welcome to MUD. Nice LX!

Nice pick up.

Sounds like you got it bad - real bad - the addiction that is.

Seems to be a common theme around here. Addicted indeed.

It is really scary how dry the Sierras are. Driving through South Lake Tahoe today, it looked like May/June and it was a bluebird 56 degrees. No snow to be seen in the trees. Get ready for drought season.
