he's down to 3500 according to a post on pirate...I wish I had the money

3500 is an excellent price, despite the little bit of cosmetic work it still needs. Unfortunately CT is a little far for me to travel...

I bet Nick would bring it back for a price

If you are serious about buying I can help get it back to IN. I'm taking a truck to Boston around the 1st of October and will have an empty trailer for the return trip. I'd just need a donation for fuel. Stew would most likely be more than willing to store the truck until I could get there to pick it up.

Has the price really dropped to 3500? I only saw mention of it here, and I couldn't find the post mentioned on pirate.

And how difficult would it be to get some pictures, since I won't have an opportunity to drive out and take a look at it? Not that I don't trust the seller, I just want to get an idea of how much additional work I might be in for.

I saw the post on pirate somewhere....email the owner. I only know whats been posted.
All I know is 60 series axles, SOA, RockBox, PS, Strong motor, and Irox...All that is worth it.

Thanks. I sent an e-mail to the seller; I'd be happy to donate some gas money if you're already coming back this way with a trailer. You don't even have to go all the way to IN, I'm near Dayton. :)

Well that sucks....I'll keep an eye out for ya

I've found a decent looking FJ-60 down in Cincinnati that I need to call and see if I can check it out this weekend.

Thanks for keeping an eye for me. It's much appreciated. :)

What are you looking for? a 40 or a 60?

Either is fine. I started out looking for a 40, but when I realized how difficult they were to find around here, I figured I'd keep an eye out for 60s also. I'd prefer to have a 40, but if the best I can find is a 60, I'd be willing to settle.

I hate to say it, but I've been thinking of parting with my 1978 FJ40. It hasn't seen off-road in some time and I've made a lot of improvements since I rode with the Mid-Ohio group. If you're interested, I posted a pic. I'm in Troy, OH and haven't decided how much to ask. I've had the truck since 1989. As you might guess, there's quite a bit of emotion that goes along with the thought of selling one's truck. I've only taken it out of the garage about two or three times a year over the past 7 years and that was just either to ride to work or around town. However, it would really be fun on the trail.

LIST OF SOME OF THE CANDY
Chevy 350 (TBI) w/465 and OEM Toyota xfer.
Centerforce clutch
Rear ARB
35x15.5 SuperSwampers (extra set of smaller mud BFGs for on-road)
8000# Ramsey
Bull Bar
Power Steering (Saginaw)
Front spring reversal
Dual Optima Red batteries (one old and dead)
Soft top
Decent paint
Chopped up OEM doors
Extra set of new Cool Cruiser fenders
More stuff

It does have front end wobble with the Swampers at about 35 mph, but this goes away when you go beyond this speed zone. Also the xfer rear output and the front diff seals leak. Engine is really stong.

I'll check this thread in a couple of days to see if you're interested. Peace!

That's a pretty nice rig. Based on what I've seen in the forum here for selling vehicles, it would be way out of my price range.

Price: $8,500.00

I have soft doors too. Rear spring mounts were replaced with OEM parts. Also running a oil and power steering cooler. I have an electric fan (switch/relay controlled) providing airflow thru an aluminum radiator. Headlights are Hella high output (100W on high).

The truck is clean, but not a pretty showroom piece. Rear quarters were replaced with some Canadian panels (16 ga) that weren't quite long enough in the back, so patches were added. I replaced the rocker panels with shorter 16 ga sheet with a bottom lip. The shortened rocker panel gives extra clearance. The Brown's from Columbus way installed the sliders. Otherwise, there are a couple of other places where I patched in steel, but didn't use filler and just painted over the patch. That way I have a better idea of the condition of the metal.

I have enough matching paint for the doors. I also have the paint color information.

New fenders are in the attic still in packing material.

I can take more pics and give more detail if requested.

I just finished paying off a car and was looking for a truck I could buy with cash and avoid picking up any new car payments for a while, but you're going to tempt me into going back into debt offering such a good price.

If I had the money, I'd be ending vacation early to come pick it up.
