Injection pump.

But check these first: a clogged fuel inlet screen at the pump and check for a clogged fuel filter or lines. Also check that there is no air getting into the fuel filter housing or leaving the fuel filter housing.

Further, try replacing the fuel shut off solenoid - when they get old, they can get dodgy.

A 1HZ should start almost instantly if things are working correctly. Any cranking other than for about a second is getting to be suspicious. I suspect the lift pump in the injection pump is wearing out.

no air leaks anywhere.....no clogged line or filter....everything is pointing out to the fuel pump, the pickup pump does its job also......i will check injectors then going to the fuel pump.
 
I agree with john, fuel sut off valve, pull it out take plunger and spring out put it back in and try it. You will have to stall et to stop. 2 Have you looked at the timing ?.

are you talking about the shut off solenoid?? or valve?? i went throught the solenoid and it is working perfectly.......i you are talking about shut off valve(please explain more since i don't get it)
 
i have open the lift pump to check the diaphragm and springs and clearence on the shims and everything is ik there

You're talking primer pump, I'm talking INJECTION pump.

How did the engine run when it was working last? If you run the engine now, are there any performance problems.

once started,engine is great! i am removing injection pump and injectors to have them bench tested.will see.......

the fuel filter is fine?

We have vehicles stop here and not start because the fuel filter is blocked and no sign of it before shutdown?

We only just went euro-2 9 months ago its causing chaos with diesel filters
