Bah, FGG isn't all it's cracked up to be.

We had a quarry a few years back and ended up using a scientifically developed grease for our Hoes and loaders that was far and beyond anything that the majors could provide. These things were running 80 plus hours a week in a sandy, humid atmosphere. It was petroleum based and was pretty uncommon but known as the best stuff on the market, so for a few dollars more just go with what we know, petroleum products and be done with it.

FWIW, I still use "Newts Heavy Iron" in my trucks.

Got to disagree with the folks saying food grade grease is not a good lube for trucks. I have a tube of white Swepco #115 ( http://hitlausa.com/pdf/1/j11199_115SB.pdf ) that I use all the time as a general lube. I would not pack wheel bearings with it, but I have used it on everything else on vehicles over the years including shackle bushings.

It also make a great faucet washer lube to quieten down squeaky faucets. ;)

Mine doesn't state white lithium or the moly so I'll play it safe w/ good ol regular.

Rusty,
When we purchase food grade grease it is in small tubes about 16 ounces. It last us for a couple of years because it is primarily for our chain driven motors in the crusher and press. Just a little at the start of crush and after harvest is over. Maybe $10 per tube compared to traditional grease at less than half that price.

On a note about Molibdonymdisulphide grease, Aerospatiale (aircraft manufacturer) released a technical bulletin a few years ago about Moly producing sulfuric acid when mixed with water. They don't want it used on their aircraft. I though it was the cats meow but am now having second thoughts.

So why would anyone want to spend more on something that might not work as well as traditional products?

This should put it out of its misery. No mas!

Well, I remember a few years back me and the wife got to slippin' and sliding in some of that food grade grease. Good times!!!
