I didn’t see an Intro sticky so I started a new thread.

The name is Wick. I’m USMC EOD currently on deployment. I've been married to a cool honey for about 10 years. We have a couple of carnies running around (small hands, smell like cabbage). We live near the New River air station.

I wanted a land cruiser because; I needed a trust worthy family contingency vehicle. I am gone roughly 80% of the time and I liked the safety record, reliability, and durability LC provide. I have been riding around Kabul in diesel level 5 armored land cruisers and thought they were awesome. So I bought a 97, 80 series land cruiser on Ebay. Its bone stock guts wise. Its exterior looks a little different. My wife say's it's not weird, it's special. She also says it's what's on the inside that matters. I'm pretty sure she was talking about the truck. Anyways, I return from deployment around the New Year + or - a month. I’m looking forward to driving this thing off road with the MATLCA.
I appreciate the wounded EOD warrior support. We have had a rough year. My buddies and I thank you.

I have pictures of the 80 in the registry pg. 32. I'm not able to attach more pics right now.

Welcome!:flipoff2:

edit: just saw the rig, wow that thing is unique! I like the mad max look with the modern 200 series lights and grill. What size are the tires? Does it have gears, lockers, etc? I look forward to checking this thing out in person!

First of all stay safe out there brother,

Second, Yes it has been a rough year for you guys. A few of the guys that EOD has lost in the last few months my buddy Eric knew. The WEODWF Run @ Crozet is a yearly event, if your in town for the next we would love to have you.

Third that rig is fxxxing sick man

Welcome:flipoff2::hillbilly::grinpimp: That rig is awesome! What is that thing, a Seqouia, a Tundra, an 80 or a 200? Regardless, it looks tough:cheers:

LC80 and Tundra Hybrid

Thanks guys. It's a 97 LC and a 2010 tundra hybrid. The tires are 35" Nitto Trail Grappler M/T on 20x10 Fuel brand wheels. Unlocked for now, planning ARB lockers unless someone has a better solution. Gears are completely stock. Do I need to change them? I don't plan on crawling with it, mostly rough trails and overlanding. More than likely I will be upgrading the suspension first, then the lockers, with a dual battery set up and more lights (fog and work) to follow.

Stock gears wont hurt anything, I'm running 35s with stock gears and lots of extra weight. It does fine off road in low gear but lugs around on the street. I was about to regear when I got a price quote:eek:

Welcome.
Is that a roll cage/Exo-skeleton?

As for some offroading when you get back, Uwharrie might be a good spot in the sping.
Also OBX.
Check in with the guys at ONSC if you havent already. They are real active in NC.
NC- Olde North State Cruisers

That is some Mad Max s***. I like it!

DavidAW, I think is best classified as a roll bar/cage.

As far as the Mad Max look it's what I was going for. I recently got caught in a riot in Kabul and had around 10 bricks thrown at my up armored Land Cruiser. It looked like s*** but it was still fully functional. I got back and immediately started looking for a Mad Max/ District 9 type set up. I'm planning on welding up some detachable steel mesh screens to bolt over the windows in the case of civil unrest/ hurricane. They will more than likely sit in the garage for years with no use, but they will be their if I need them. This was the other choice but the wife was afraid it would crack the driveway. My buddies think I'm crazy.
