Flying to LAX and bringing Cruiser back to Vancouver, roadtrip planning.

The time has come for us to pick up our 87 60 Series Landcruiser.
Flying from YVR to LAX, renting car to get to Ontario California where the truck is located. Will be driving it to Vancouver BC over a 11 day period.
We will be camping in a James Baroud RRT that we purchased which will get mounted on day 1 of our trip.
Camp stove, cooking and sleeping gear will be purchased that day as well, so very busy day.
On our return trip would like to go to the following areas.

1. Have friends in San Diego say that's day 2.
2. Grand Canyon.
3. Provo Utah, Salt Lake City.
4. Boise ID
5. Sheridan OR for Mogfest

Are there scenic drives and point of interest that I should take in along the way. Good camp spots, places to to avoid.
I know that it's not a lot of time but would appreciate any advice and input.

Zion is pretty neat, but very hot this time of year. Grand Tetons are pretty awesome. I've been to Silver Falls oregon, nice waterfalls and camping.

Looks like the canyon is going to be too hot for us.
