Anyone else notice a flutter sound at high speeds?
I am mainly hearing it on my LC when traveling over 60 mph.
I have also noticed it when passing under the dryers at the car wash.

I am thinking it is the rubber pcs lining the tracks along the roof underneath the roof rails.

If so is there a fix to better secure them.

I have noticed that I have 2 of those rubber pcs are missing on my LX.
However I have not really noticed the flutter sound as much on LX.

Do those rubber strips serve any purpose?

Or does anyone else have any ideas where its coming from?

Its the windshield rubber/plastic trim.

I ran a thin bead of Black RTV Sealant under the trim and it fixed 95% of the rattling/flutter

I had felt all around the windshield and could not find anything that felt remotely loose. MSCruiser, could you please describe in a little more detail where you put the RTV sealant exactly .
Thank you

My loose trim was where the rubber trim (that runs vertically down the sides of the WS) runs down to the plastic trim near the hood hinge. The rubber and the piece of plastic trim that overlaps the rubber and runs under the hood were kinda loose. I put the RTV under those pieces.

Truthfully, you could put the RTV under everything it won't hurt anything, and is virtually invisible.

I know exactly where your talking about under the hood, I used some foam weather strips in there to tighten those under hood pcs up, didn't seem to change anything. I will check the windshield area again.

I would have swore yesterday at the car wash when the dryers hit the roof, that those rubber pcs were causing the flutter. Have you ever looked at those.

I have not. RTV fixed 95% of my rattling, and it was surely coming from the front passenger's side.

I don't here any flutter in my LX either. But its only got 15k miles, my LC is approaching 50k miles. That said my LX is either missing some of those rubber roof insert pcs or it didn't come with them, not sure. The rubber pcs run all the way from the front to the back on my LC but the LX is missing the ones over the rear passenger doors. If those are causing the sound, then that could be why the LX doesn't have that issue.

Well sold the higher mileage Cruiser I had that made that noise about a year ago.

I Kept My lower milage Cruiser that never made that noise till last weekend and it's now making that same flutter rattle noise in high wind situations. Its now getting close to 30k on it now.

The other Cruiser had 40k on it when I bought it and made that noise the whole time I owned it.

It's not terrible just a little irritating when driving without the radio on, when in high wind situations.

Anyone else have any solutions/fixes or ideas.

It’s the cross bars on your luggage rack. Slide to the rear and tighten them up they can get loose over time

This. I had it on my '16. Occasional flutter fixed by tightening the cross bars.

Thanks!
I will check those cross bars.
