Hey lads,

Had my 1hdt 92 for about a year now and recently run into a problem with the red overboost turbo light flickering randomly. The fact that both green and red go and it’s happening more when I hit bumps and even when I’m not accelerating makes me think its electrical and not turbo. Have seen some people suggest that it might be loose alt plug. Had a mate suggest wiring issue or boost sensor might need replacing.

Anyone have an idea of what might be happening and any fixes

Cheers

pretty simple to start testing at the pressure switch. unplug the switch, does the light stay off?

I'm having the same problem, but mine is intermittent and flashing. It has happened 3 times, and I just cleaned the 2 sensors on the air box. I have not done a voltage test on the plug. I'm also going to check the waste gate arm on the turbo to see if it is sticky.

By the way I new to the Land cruiser form. I have just purchased my 1991 HDJ81 from Japan with 188,000km to date and have big plans for it.

I have solved the issue! It wasn’t the overboost sensor on the air box. It was the alternator connector. I disconnected it and it was caked in grease. I used a pick to bend the connector’s on the black part slightly. And cleaned it with electric parts spray.
I drove it to work today and didn’t have any flickering over 2 grand.

This is the other thread I found that helped with solving the issue.
