I tried to shorten a set of Flex style wipers for my 40, I've used them on my car for a few years, really liked them esp in winter...I cut the spring steel backbone to fit, then trimmed the rubber blade...they looked great, but once I put them on it became apparent that there is way to much pressure on the last two inches (both ends), since the blades were designed for curved windshields. I would say the ends of the blades will tear way to soon, and when the glass was dry, the wiper motor was struggling to push the blades...so that could burn out the motor... Just some advice, don't try it, save the $40 on the two wipers...back to the old school steel and rubber blades.... : (
