Flashing OD light (1 Viewer)

Dear All,

I gave my car in for a injector pump service and injectors, which seem ok, however now my gear shift pattern has changed.

The gears are shifting too soon, 1st to 2nd at 20kmh (later than before) and then as you accelerate 2-3-4th at 2,000 rpm and very slow speed of about 60kph. Also there is no kick-down and the OD off light is flashing.(when off, when on the light stays on as normal)

I believe the flashing o/d light indicates a fault code, anyone out there can help???

Yes you have a trans code. When this happens the ect goes to a default shift schedule. Sort of a limp mode.

Have you checked the cable adjustment since they were working on it? Never seen that cause a code tho. Check the FSM for pulling trans codes.

The cable adjustment was done and is currently very lose, however shifting is off and the od light is flashing, please advise if there is a section on the forum which lists the codes.

I also had my CV joints greased a week before the injector pump was done, but doubt that could be the cause.

Also anyone else out there know what the problem could be?

Try to tighten up all the slack in the cable, clear your codes and try driving it again.

Did the Throttle position sensor go back on top of the pump? In the same position? Did it get plugged into the engine harness?

Thanks Guys,

I assume the TPS is the black device on the top with a cable going to it, i check, its connected properly (has a triangular connector), how can I tell if its not functioning correctly?

Also how do I clear the code, would disconnecting the battery for 10 mins do it?

Secondly, is it ok to drive the car in Limp mode shifting? would i harm my transmission in any way?

Hi All,

I tried disconnecting the battery but od light still flashing. Also tried jumping the E1 & TT connectors, not change in the flashing pattern, can any one help?

Hi All

An update, got an electrical guy to adjust the TPS, he first removed it, checked it was working using a meter, then connected it back but removed the connector and out the meter so as to see if you move the accelerator cable, if there is a change in voltage.

Then he just adjusted, un hooked the battery for 15 secs and the flashing od light was gone, and gear changes back to normal!

I am having a similar issue with my 95 cruiser. blinking OD light. my mechanic changed out my ecu for a new one because the old one had an issue with the immobilizer. its driving fine, except going into reverse is a little rough. But the check engine light and flashing OD light drive me nuts. Any help with this is appreciated. did you find a fix?
