Heading up tomorrow to Flagstaff to do the Williams train to the Grand Canyon on Friday. Seeing as how the weather has become snowy up there and remembering that I grew up in FLA I want to make sure I'm not underestimating mother nature. I don't know how well the ADOT folks in and around Flagstaff are about keeping the roads cleared, salted, etc.. What is my best bet?

a) Continue to take the Princess mobile (2wd full size SUV) and the snow shouldn't be a problem
b) Take the FJC with full time 4WD and it should handle any potential adverse conditions
c) Start looking for chains.

Thanks,
Norm

NORM!
Welcome back - we haven't seen you in a while. We were even talking about you at the last meeting.

might not hurt to take some extra blankets , an kids will be kids when they see that snow they will be in it ! plan on wet feet and cold little hands ;p sounds like a blast !

No, full time 4WD comes only with the manual transmission - my A/C compressor has a clutch;p

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like the FJC is a must and chains a good back up. Any one know where I can get chains for the 35's?

The 3rd Fridays haven't been working with my schedule lately so that's why I've been MIA. That and my son has had a soccer tournament coinciding with every good run of late. Hoping to be back on the grid again soon.

Howdy! I do have a set of chains you could use. I'd have to drag them out of storage. They were originally on an 18 wheeler, and I cut them down just a bit to fit my 35's in Wyoming. They do fill two 5 gallon buckets, so I hope you have some room in the back. Of course, just the weight will help with the traction. John

BTW that w as me honking at you in the carpool lane on monday :grinpimp: I was in the M.
