Moving up to 35s. Sticking with Terra Grapplers as they serve me well. Tires will be here next week & I'm wondering what you all are using for spacers, if any. Tires = 325/70R/17
Thanks, Jim

That's a big tire, true 35"! Have you heard of anyone running them on the FJ? I would avoid spacers if possible.

My tires are 34.5 315/75/16's I can tell you with stock alloys, they are really close to the uca. At full lock, I rub on the uca's, and rubs sliughtly sooner in reverse.
I would love to get a different rim that is at least 8 inches with a slightly different backspace, or I really need spacers.
In the rear, my new Overland Warehouse/Radflo suspension system came with a bump stop extension. I still rub the inner fenderwell at full stuff. But it's just a kiss, not a punch n the nads.
If I remember correctly the terra grapplers seem pretty wide near the tread

thanks
Don

I have the all-pro uca's which I hope will help a bit. I'm really casting about for some advice here. The bump stops will be extended. Just don't know what spacers to use. Perhaps I need Bushwackers to clear the fender.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but, the Bushwackers actually don't give you any more clearance, they just add a wider look.
The UCA's will correct the rubbing uca issue for sure. I think you are going to have to fit one and see where they will be a problem
Like I said, mine or 34.5 and with the bump stop extension, lift and body mount chop I am only really having issues with the UCA's

I am assuming you are using stock alloys? or steelies?
I know blues dawg is running 35's I am not sure how that translates to whether the 325 you are seeking is more than a true 35"

You will need bump stop spacers on the rear, they are simple to make. The only experience I have with the FJC and big tires is Carl's 315 Grapplers. They are 34.49" tall, 12.32" wide and a tight fit. Yours are 35" tall, 13.12" wide, going to be even tighter.

The UCAs will help, you have the mount chop right? In the rear we removed some plastic, hammered some metal and reinstalled most of the plastic, IIRC some minor plastic cutting.

He isn't running wheel spacers. On the front the tires just touch the frame at full lock turn, enough to rub the paint. On the rear they rub the plastic wheel well liner, in the rear of the well at full flex. Both rubs make noise, but don't damage anything, so good to go.:hillbilly:

Mount is chopped. Drew is running a similar size I believe and has some issues. Perhaps I would be better served with 315s.

Thanks all for your input. I have put the order on hold and may go to 16" rims to accommodate a 315 tire.

Jim,
I've run the 315's for over 2 years now - with the stock steelies and a 1/4" plate spacer and now on the 16" TRD Ivan Stewart rims. It's all about the back spacing and rim width (and section width of the particular tire). There is a sweet spot where you don't need spacers but can still clear the fender lips with 8" rims. The steelies rubbed ever so slightly but the section width on the MTZ was the thinnest of any 315. I never hand an issue with needing the bump stops modified.

If you can find out the back spacing on these TRD's that originally came on the Tundras they accomplish both. If you hit that right envelop, the tires will stuff perfectly without bottoming out.

I spoke to Kevin on this last nite, so his comments on mine are right on. A little extra info, I am running 16x8 inch rims w/ 4.5" back space instead of 4-5/8" on stocks, IIRC, meaning I effectively have a 1/8" spacer.

Very slightly in front on the frame at full turn - only way I can tell is the little shiny spot, and tupperware contact in the rear at full compression, even with the bump stops dropped like and inch and a half.

Ray
thanks for the offer. I'm not sure if they will work. I think they need to be hubcentric? Can anyone chime, if 1/4 " spacers will mess me up if they aren't hubcentric on a FJC ??

They will work the same way any other spacer will. Yes you may loose the hubcentric, depending on how deep it is. This means you will need to be more careful to center the wheel with the lugs when mounting.

Thanks Kevin for the heads up.
Ray let me know and I can come and pick them up. I would like to get this week, I need to leave for Overland Thursday morning. If I could pick them up befire then that would be great . If they don't work Out I will just give them back
thanks
Don
