Cruiserdrew
On the way there
Had a funny experience I thought I would share.
Some background: The wife hates Land Cruisers and is always dogging them. I recently found a nice Fj62 for cheap and bought it for my 17 year old son to drive.
About a week ago my son calls from practice that the truck won't start. It's about 9:30 pm and I drive down to the highschool, find that he's left the lights on and the battery is flat dead and won't even click the starter. Jump start, fine. Jumper cables purchased the next day for FJ62.
Last night, in the same circumstances, son calls again. truck won't start or even crank. Wife is all over this...the truck is junk, has "constant" issues (this makes 2), I'll bet that's why they sold it...
Only this time a team mate offers to jump and it won't start with a jump. So, I load the rescue 60 with tools, good cables, some 12v lights, a spare starter, the dog and head for the highschool. About 1 mile out, I called to ask if the car was in park...silence, then the sound of the FJ62 starter cranking normally. "Dad, does this mean I'm a complete idiot?" Yes! We came home and had a good laugh.
So tech lesson...Always rule out the cheap and the obvious.
