My 62 was totaled a few months ago. I didnt have to provide any documentation or even fight over it. I mentioned to my agent that the truck was rust free and in excellent shape and asked him to look into what a truck like that would cost to replace before he placed a value on it. He came back with $5000, worked for me.
I was also looking into getting what documentation I could to prove the value, but turned out I didnt need it...The insurance company HAS to give you the replacement value for your vehicle, not the "bluebook" value or whatever. I got lucky and have an excellent insurance agent, State Farm btw (I almost switched insurance companies about 2 weeks prior to the wreck, I am now staying with State Farm)
Best of luck to you. I could get a copy of my claim if you need it, can't seem to find it atm.
My truck is an 89 and had about 255,000 miles when it got hit, and I fixed it for less than $600. Well, minus a bumper and a paint job...Thanks warpdriv!
Let me know if you need me to dig up some docs from my claim.
