FJ62 trying to shift itself into 4wd under WOT

During our trip this weekend we drove about 250 miles. A lot of highway driving with some long steep grades (7%). A lot of the time, under WOT, I could gain speed but it would try to shift itself into 4wd and that is a scary sound!! I couldn't get it to happen every single time I had it to the floor.

I have a light performance cam.

Do you think that the shifting mech. is getting feedback through the vacuum system? Should I change out the 4wd solenoid (it works fine under normal use)?

What about changing over to a shifter linkage like an FJ60? Can that be done?

I'd check the the system for leaks first. the system needs good strong vacuum to stay engaged/disengaged. When "off" the pin is in the forward position, so I could see with low vac the accell forces may act to engage the pin.

converting to a 60 lever can be done as well.

OK. If I don't find any leaks I may just switch over to mechanical shifting linkage.
