During our trip this weekend we drove about 250 miles. A lot of highway driving with some long steep grades (7%). A lot of the time, under WOT, I could gain speed but it would try to shift itself into 4wd and that is a scary sound!! I couldn't get it to happen every single time I had it to the floor.
I have a light performance cam.
Do you think that the shifting mech. is getting feedback through the vacuum system? Should I change out the 4wd solenoid (it works fine under normal use)?
What about changing over to a shifter linkage like an FJ60? Can that be done?
