I finally made time to get around to installing the used tailgate that I got fro cruiserparts a few months ago. Not a real time killer, right? After I got around being annoyed all over again about Jame's definition of "clean" and my definition of "clean" being somewhat different and further being annoyed that some tard had painted a stock number on the tailgate with bright yellow enamel paint. Since I bought the tailgate the same color as the rig for one big reason. Not to paint the tailgate.
About six hours later I am finally putting away the tools. Did not plan on rewiring the tailgate. Even back in electric shop, I could never get the solder to run right. So, I am standing back, admiring my handiwork while wondering once again why James would think that a tailgate with a large quarter size dimple in it is clean. I started to wonder about the tailgate emblem. Both my 60 and 62 have raised tailgate badges. This tailgate has a decal.
Anybody know what is up with that? And, does anybody have a trick to taking the badge off of the old tailgate without screwing it up? Has anybody ever noticed how little projects seem to get a life of their own?:bang:

Always ask for o-hours parts,A-parts . This is standard in the industry translating to No work required.Clean means nothing. I have learned the hard way. Mike

I've never got anything from James that was worth a s***!........ I hope he reads this :flipoff2:

dental floss usually works on removing the old raised emblems off of the adhesive.

I will give that a try. Never heard of it but ya never know. Thanks for the help. Now where is that freeby dental kit I got the last time I went to the grinder.

I have bought a fair amount of stuff from them and it is almost never right the first time. They always make it right. I think that the only real way to do business with them is to go to the yard. They are not close enough to do that so I try to make do. That tailgate I got kind of ticked me off. Big dimple and light surface rust along the bottom which did clean up plus the enamel yellow stock number painted right on the tailgate. In all fairness to James, I did not complain about this so he had no chance to make it right. Often, when it is a small order, they replace it and do not want the original back because of the cost of shipping. I think that I will continue to deal with them as I am learning how to be specific. I have even e-mailed them photographs.
