Thought I would help others who have had to replace the PITA water pump to pipe lower radiator hose Part #16572-61020. When I did my water pump I stupidly did not replace this hose. It started oddly leaking about 12oz of coolant while warming up, then once at temp it would stop leaking...very odd. I noticed it was bulging when I got a light on it and figured it was a ticking time bomb.
DID NOT WANT TO REMOVE THE FAN, SHROUD, BELTS ETC. So, I went for it from underneath. My oil cooler hose was gooey and rotting out, so i'm replacing it as well.
1) Jack up the car, remove the passenger wheel, if you have fender skirt, take that off.
2) Drain coolant.
3) Remove lower radiator hose.
4) Pull oil cooler hose (easy access) replace if necessary (1/2" ID).
5) Remove 12mm bolt holding hard pipe in place directly under A/C compressor.
6) Get a good light and use a 10mm ratcheting wrench to get around the OEM hose clamps. Might take some effort or prying the clamp around to get better access. It is manageable!
7) Be sure to get a good quality replacement Part#16572-61020 (do not go off Rockauto it is the wrong hose!)
