Has anyone tried the 165mm (fj62) H4 e code/freeform headlights from rallylights.com?

More Light and Better Pattern than Parabolic, and Less Expensive too

I had bought the IPF ones from 4x4connection because they stated it was for a lhd vehicle but once installed , the angle is towards the left not the right meaning it's for a rhd car. I'm not sure how much of a difference this makes but since everyone was saying how the ipf's were better than the hellas i took my chance. Is it worth swapping to the hellas to get the correct beam pattern?

Also should I get the regular hella ecodes or these new "free form" ones. It seems the free form ones have a clear lens but the reflectors are aluminum coated plastic which is not as comforting as metal reflectors since i'm running 80watt/100 watt bulbs.

from rallylights.com

A Parabolic lamp has a parabolic reflector. The reflector collects the light and the lens does the beam control. These lamp typically collect about 27% of the light created by the light source (bulb).

A Free Form lamp has a reflector which is a computer designed complex shape. Hella uses over 50,000 points to define this shape. The reflector does the collecting and the beam control. Some FF lamps have a fluted lens. This fluting diffuses the light and distributes the light more evenly. Free form lamps typically collect about 45% of the light available.

Sorry for the long windedness.'

I know many of you are running the normal ecode hella h4 conversions but this is a newer conversion using a free form reflector thats supposed to allow more light,  Anyone try it yet?

Well tonight I installed the free form hella's and..... i'm very dissapointed. The IPF's were SOO much brighter. I wish I hadn't returned them. The IPF's had a flat horizontal beam that had an evenly spread light. THe hella freeforms are more like 2 bright focused angled beams like / / . Since the free forms are both dot and E code compliant i'm assuming they are a compromise of both.

I don't know how the normal e code hella's are but hopefully they are better than the freeforms.

conclusion: free forms two thumbs down... :(
