Can you guys give some feedback on this one?

I'm thinking about getting an OME 2" suspension lift kit for my 62. A local parts guy will sell it for about $450, is that good?

Also, will my new 31" BFG AT's look stupid with a 2" lift?

Thanks,

It won't look too bad, but be aware that the OME setup will give you closer to 3" of lift.

That seems WAY cheap. I'm not really up on OME but even if that's just springs and nothing else it's still cheap. Or do they make an addaleaf?

Thats almost too cheap. What all does it come with and what is the condition of the parts.

That is extremely cheap. I was doing some shopping for OME before I bought my HFS kit. For full kits including spings, shackles, bushings, u-bolts, shocks and a steering stabilizer, I was quoted from $1750-$2000. I would be very suspicious about the $450, from most OME sources that would buy you about 1.5 spring packs. Find out exactly what local parts guy is selling you for $450.

Also, if this is legit, could you share your local parts guy contact info? ;)

yeah $450 is not OME or if it is its just 2 springs ;) or maybe shocks and stabilizer.

31's will look OK.....32's better, 33x10.5 better yet.

My OME was about $1500 for a complete kit and I shopped around a long time to find that price. $450 is way too cheap, much less than wholesale. It will give you at least 3" of lift, too. 31's won't be too bad. 33x10.5 road tires or 34x10.5 Swamper LTB's are ideal.

Go with the BDS 2.5" kit, Add 1" shackles, and run 33X12.5 tires on 15X8 rims with 3.5" backspacing. You will be pleased with that setup, and it will look great!!!!! I had to add a small shim 2.5deg. to the front for better steering, and I extended the brake lines and swaybar links

What's involved in doing a spring over, parts etc... and what's the approximate cost?

SOA will cost probably 1000-1500 depending how nice a job you are doing. By the time you buy or fab front and rear , top and bottom shock mounts, brake lines, steering arms, driveshafts, sway bar links, etc, I don't see how it could be done right for less.

I can tell you that dealer cost on just OME springs for a 60-62 is over 800.00, shocks are about 50ea.. Anyway you look at it , its over 1000.00. I would do the SOA with 35's. Both my trucks are set up that way.

Thanks Jason, looks good.

now let's see the BDS lift with the 33's

i'm pretty ignorant about lifts, and other things of course :o

i have a 2" lift on my 60. the PO did it or had it done. when i have been underneath it all i can see are the shocks as being new or different. i don't know if he did an add a leaf on it too or what. the shocks are the only thing that stands out to me. i know it is not OME for sure, but i just think he did a cheapy job on it. not sure if it really matters or not though.

would it be worth me posting some pics of what is under there for some opinions on what i have, or would photos not tell the story? also, what are the drawbacks if he did put some cheap lift on it?

I just got the jist from the parts guy... was mis quoted. Got quoted for an fj40 kit. Here's the real deal:

ProComp - $570 (ubolts, shocks, springs)
SkyJacker - $580 (springs and ubolts)
SuperLift - $700 ("everything")
BDS- $930 ("everything")

awesome responses though. New to the boards.. Thanks alot guys.

Also, I'll post a picture of my 2 stock 62's soon. Just got my 2nd one for a steal. More to follow in another post in another topic.

Those look like more realistic prices! Welcome to the board. Pretty new here myself and the guys have been a ton of help. Lot's of good deals on 60s & 62s here in Colorado. Tracking down a hot lead on a 1 owner, garage kept 60 that a retired couple want to sell cheap.

I just installed OME medium suspension - springs, shackles with greasable pins, shocks, steering stabilizer, extended sway bar connectors, a rear sway bar (from a 62) and FF Rear axle. The lfit is about 2-1/2", the ride is superior. He sure to get alignment done and have camber checked. Have you wheels and tire balanced. Mudrak did all the work, and did it very well.

Huge difference in the truck on and off the road. I am running 31" GY MTRs on stock rims.
