Need - FJ40 Bucket seats w/Frame, sliders, etc.

I will be putting a set of 78FJ40 seats on ebay very soon maybe tomorrow. They have the headrests. They are in ok shape some parts need to be reupholstered or sewn. I do have a set of cheap covers for them though and would send with. Send me an email and I will touch base with you when i post.

Looking for FJ60 5spd and t-case...

I really didn't want to keep the 3spd, but I am now otherwise...

I will re-post, "looking for a replacement 3spd for my 40" and look into a 5spd/OD option down the road.

I have a 4 speed tranny and transfercase from an 83'FJ60 i am fixing to sell. I am replacing with a rebuilt 4 speed and transfercase from an 85'.

I have a set you can have for the cost of shipping. Upholstery is badly torn and patched with duct tape, but the frames and rails are in good condition. No headrests, though. Came out of my '76 FJ40. (Replaced them with Volvo seats rather than spend for fixup.)

I'm still using the stock mounting frames.

Thank you for the information, and the concerns.

cruiserdan, is a totalled vehicle unrebuildable no matter what? rollover you have to reattach tags to new cab. Just curious.

I have done alittle research and lookin into the titling agencys, in most cases the vehicle have to be made before 75 i believe in which a bill of sale is signed over to the agency they title it through New york which did not require state filed titles up until that date. Problem is i need them after 75. I believe it is 75 its been alittle while since i have done such research.

I would be interested in the company that does research to find out where and to whom the vehicle was last title, in hopes to resolve the many situations that i get in.

I can apply for a bonded title, transfer title if titled in the state, i can pay to have the vin searched and found if it was ever titled within the state. ALL above the transfer of in state title is the only way that works, i have tried the others at nothing but loss of my time and money.
Apply for inspection of out of state vehicle in which they inspect the attached vin tags and issue a new state title. Apply for a created vehicle tag, which all vin tags and titles used to create vehcile are surrendered to the state which it is issued a brand new title and vin with manufacture date of yr in which the title is issued (insurance F***s this up).

I have had another party that has done my vin searches to verify all vin numbers where not from a stolen vehicle. I retain for records, all sales and purchase reciepts for any vehicle i use major parts on or of, to claim my legal rights by proof of ownership of these parts.

I assure everyone i keep everything i do on the up and up, and run through the legal crapshoot of the state to do so.

It looks like the 4spd that works best for a 4spd upgrade is from a later FJ40.
Originally I thought the FJ60 came with a 5spd...

To do the easiest bolt up upgrade to a 4 speed will be a 1980 or prior 4 speed. Later models use a rear axle e-brake rather than the drive line brake. You WILL need to get the shifter rod from a 4 speed transfer as well as the tranny output gear and modify the transfer top plate shifter in order to maintain your 3 speed transfer. If you need more infor on mating a 3 speed transfer to a 4 speed tranny let me know. I've just gone through the process.
The 5 speeds were offered on overseas models and on '83 and newer Canadian diesel models.
 
tags and titles

I can only speak from my personal experience in NM. I have a couple friends who work for the state. One is a state cop who investigates stolen vehicles and the other is a lawyer who chases the bad guys that launder stolen vehicles.
I spoke with both of them at length before I started a project that made two trucks into one. I had to have vin inspections and titles on both vehicles before the project started. I took the back half of a crew cab truck and a section of the frame and made another truck into a crew cab with those pieces. I had to leave the vin tag on the original rear pillar of the crew cab and I had to surrender the original tag from the standard cab pillar. It would have been illegal for me to apply the original tag to the crew cab pillar.
After the vehicle was completed I had to have a state cop reinspect it, show him the body shop invoices and then I had to get a new title issued that shows BOTH vins on it. It is still titled under the original vin and the title shows the crew cab vin as a "secondary identification number"
This may, of couse, varry from state to state. I was not suggesting that you were laundering stolen vehicles. On the contrary, I doubt you would have posted if you were. ;)
I was merely mentioning that the practice may backfire on you and mess you up. I would suggest that you find somebody in your state motor vehicle division that really knows what they are doing and ask them point-blank how to proceed.

need fj62 parts

im looking for the vacuum shift pieces that go on the firewall on the passenger side. just got a 89 fj62 and those pieces are missing. PO said he never put it in 4-wheel and didnt know they were gone. got an air pump or something skreeching a little under there also. might need that piece also when i figure out what it is.
 
fj40 front marker/turn lights

...not that I have an issue with CCOT...love their stuff/prices/freebies (didn't know they did that until my last order...pleasantly surprised)...anyways...

I need 1/'75 to '84 front left and right marker/turn signal lights for fj40.
