Wanted FJ60 in or near SC

Finally looking for another 60! I have been waiting for a while and finally talked the wife into getting another 60. The only problem is I only have $3000 to $4000 to spend and need it to be a DD! I think Mongo had one for sale recently but may have been crushed. Please let me know if you know of any for sale that would get the mud approval. Thanks in advance.

Looked at this one in Blufton, SC:

FJ60 Landcruiser

All maintenance records. Engine rebuild in 2001 I think. Sags a bit in the rear but owner has new leafs that are not installed.

Interior a little beat. Indoor/outdoor carpet replaced the original. Head liner OK. Bumpers have a few holes, some poor attempts at body work. Dash has a few chew holes in it. The interior panels rear (over the wheel wells) has beer replaced with some kind of press board. No tools or jack. Front seat pretty beat. Rears ok. A/C comp has been replaced at some point but needs recharge.

Frame ok, not that bad underneath.

Seller has all the paper work for the work done and there has been a lot over the years. Oil changed reguarly... doucmented. Drove it. Soild, starts right up, Locking hubs spin properly. 4WD HI and LO operate fine. Exhaust is a little loud but a new or a patch where needed for the exhaust will fix.

Original rims. Needs new rubber.

I told him this was about a $2800 truck but I was not interested in buying because of all the work needed. But I must say, all of the maintenance work over the years was well documented. OEM parts for repairs. Not a lot of crazyness going on under the hood. Could be a DD due to the condition of the mechanicals but not purdy to look at.

IMO $2800.

Thanks for the quick replies. Trekker, how bad a shape was the body in, lots of rust, patches or fixes? Oil Leaks? Any thing else you think it would need right away? Thanks very much for the reply. I saw this one, just no time to get down there yet.

body kinda rough. crude patch/bondo throughout.

It would need tires and address the sagging. The owner does have 4 new leafs that you'll need to bust apart the spring pack to add/replace.

nothing super wet underneath. Was parked on gass so I could not really tell about spots.

There is a 60 with an ARB in VA listed here right now. He's looking for $2500. There is some rust but it looks good overall. I have not seen it in person.

I believe i have seen that one. I will get some more info and let you know. Ali L is still running. Jerry keeps it on Shem creek and just had it painted. He also just picked up a new pathfinder! It doesn't appear to be running a ton but it is still floating!

I will call you this morning! The redfishing is awesome year round; I am tarpon hunting this time of year. Tarpon 3, me None! I have put too many hours on my flats boat getting back and fourth to Bulls bay. Maybe this will be my lucky week.

Good luck with the poons I found them just behind the breakers off Bull's Is about 5 years ago-the surf had dug out a ditch and they were staged in there waiting for bait fish to swim past-I snagged a nice few.

it is a good time to buy a 60 if the seller didn't trade them in under the clunkers program. The dealership here got a pristing 62 that they had to dump the oil and pour liquid glass in .... ouch.
