Hey everyone. First post here in the 60 forum. Acquired a 1984 back in January. Previous owner did an engine swap with a Chevy 350 small block and went with a Holley sniper EFI on it. Truck was running great when I got it but the throttle was way way too responsive. First through third gear was unbearable when you slightly touched the pedal, it’d throw your head in the seat every time.
After some research, I added a throttle lever extension to ease the throttle up and it did just that.
Now my issue is that the rpm’s are getting stuck at 1200-1400 after acceleration and has a hard time getting below 950-1050 when sitting at a light. It can be pretty dangerous when needing to rapidly decelerate.

Any thoughts? Im new to the mechanical world so Im sure It’s something easy.
All I’ve done so far is adjust the throttle cable length a couple times.
Thanks in advance!

From your description it sounds like you have some sticking somewhere along the throttle cable setup. Can you post some pictures of how the cable is currently set up? Also, as a first test, I'd have someone fully depress the throttle from the cabin while you watch in the engine bay to see if there are any obvious problems. I'd also confirm that the throttle is fully closing and opening via the Sniper display.

Cheers, James

My recommendation would be this bracket from Redline, as well as the cable they recommend.

Going to take it the house this weekend and look around some more and i will add some pictures here.

If you're referring to the monitor, i did take this picture while stopped at a light. The IAC% and TPS% are at 0..?

This^^. I used this for my Sniper conversion and it works really well. Nice sano install and preserves all the original hardware behind the fire wall.
